2024 HFUT Admission Guide for Master’s Degree Program

I Introduction to HFUT

Hefei University of Technology (HFUT), located in Hefei, the capital city of Anhui Province, is a national key university administrated directly by the Ministry of Education of China. Founded in 1945, HFUT has a long history of providing high-quality education and conducting cutting-edge research in various fields. HFUT is one of the universities of Project 211 and Program 985 innovation platform in China, and also one of universities included in the list of “Double First Class” plan, the country’s construction plan of world-class universities and first-class disciplines. Nine disciplines of the university have entered the top 1% of the global ESI ranking, and its engineering science disciplines have entered the top 1‰ of the global ESI ranking.

III Eligibility

1. Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens, physically and mentally healthy.

2. Applicants must hold Bachelor’s degree before September 1, 2024 with good academic record and should not be older than 35.

3. Applicants for Chinese-taught Programs must have the Chinese proficiency of HSK 4; Applicants who have not reached the level of HSK4 can choose to learn Chinese for one year at their own expense, and continue their master’s studies only after meeting the language requirements.

4. Applicants for English-taught Programs must have the English proficiency of IELTS 6.0/TOEFL 85/TOEFL Essentials 9/Duolingo 100. For applicants who complete their previous study in English, an instructional language certificate can be submitted as an alternative to IELTS or TOEFL.

IV Fees

1.Tuition & accommodation: 28,000 RMB/Year

2. Medical Insurance: 800 RMB/Year

V Scholarships

Reminder: Applicants do not need to choose the scholarship category. The university will allocate the scholarship category and level based on applicant’s comprehensive review results. Students in the period of one-year Chinese learning are self-funded (tuition: 12,000 RMB/Year).

VI Requirements for Annual Review

In order to continue enjoying the scholarship, scholarship students must take part in the annual review of the scholarship qualification. The annual evaluation of the scholarship generally starts in early April each year. Students must fill in the "Comprehensive Annual Evaluation Form for Scholarship" and submit relevant materials. The university will reallocate the scholarship level for the next academic year based on the assessment results. The scholarship qualification of those who fail the assessment will be suspended or cancelled. Students with outstanding annual evaluations will have the opportunity to receive the HFUT Outstanding International Student Scholarship.

VII Application Procedures

1. Register and apply at the online service system of Hefei University of Technology (http://admission.hfut.edu.cn) before June 15, 2024. For the program type, please choose “Master’s Degree Program”. For those who need one-year language learning, please choose “Language & Master’s Degree Program”.

The following documents will need to be uploaded.

(1) Copy of passport home page. Applicants must submit a clear scanned copy of the front page of their ordinary passport. If the validity of the applicant’s current passport does not meet the requirement (meaning that the passport expires before September 2024), please renew it before submitting the application.

(2) Notarized highest diploma. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized English translations.

(3) Academic transcripts. Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized English translations.  

(4) Recommendation letters. Two letters of recommendation (written only in Chinese or English) from professors or associate professors shall be submitted. These letters shall describe the applicant’s learning objectives in China, comprehensive abilities, and evaluation of future growth, as well as the cooperation between the supervisors or the exchange between universities both in China and abroad.

(5) Language qualification certificates. 

(6) Supervisor’s acceptance letter. (Refer to Appendix 2) Supervisor’s acceptance letter is not mandatory, but applicants with acceptance letter will be given priority.

(7) Study plan. The study plan (1000 words or more) can only be written in Chinese or English. It should state your understanding of the applied major, the reasons for choosing to study this major in HFUT.

(8) Copy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. (Refer to Appendix 3) The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take a physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months.

(9) Non-criminal record report. Issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.

Reminder: Uploaded supporting documents must be clear, authentic and valid. Applicants are recommended to use a professional device to scan the relevant documents. Applicants shall bear the consequences caused by unclear or unidentifiable uploaded materials.

2. After submitting the online application, you will receive our review feedback within 1-2 weeks. If you receive the notice for resubmission, please re-upload the documents as required before the application deadline.

3. Applicants who pass the qualification review will participate in comprehensive interview and academic ability interview respectively. The results will be sent via system message and email. Those who have passed all the reviews will receive the pre-admission notice issued by Hefei University of Technology.

4. Pre-admitted students are required to confirm their admissions within the prescribed period stated in the pre-admission notice. Those who don’t give feedback as required will be deemed as give up the admission.

5. Upon confirmation, HFUT will send the formal admission notice and JW202 to the students.

Reminder: The applicants are responsible for the accuracy and authenticity of the submitted information and documents. If any dishonesty or falsification was found, the application would be invalid.

VIII Registration

1. New students will start studying at Hefei University of Technology in early September 2024. You will find the specific dates of registration on the admission notice. For those who do not register as requested without a solid reason, both admission and scholarship will be canceled.

2. When coming to HFUT to register, the new students shall bring the admission notice, JW202, physical examination report, original copy of highest diploma, etc. and submit to the university to review the scholarship qualification. (If the original copies are in languages other than Chinese or English, notarized English translations will need to be submitted.) The admission of those who fail the review will be canceled.
